Tile Setter

Job Summary:

We are currently accepting applications for a Tile Setter to join the Voss team. Each Voss team member must be willing to work hard, listen closely, comprehend and move quickly and with purpose.  We are searching for an applicant who wants a long-term position with THE next level tile team in Southern Oregon. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, an eagerness to learn and follow Voss quality techniques, and the ability to apply proper tool & equipment use and maintenance. To be a member of our team you must possess the ability to recognize true quality and put it to work for our customers. The Tile Setter applies a variety of different tile material to surfaces such as showers, walls, floors, ceilings, counters and backsplashes. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·       Identifies, plans, and implements the layout necessary to achieve a desired pattern or design.

·       Measures and marks surfaces to be tiled.

·       Constructs under-bed, lays HardiBacker and sets anchor bolts, wires, and brackets.  

·       Mixes, applies, and spreads thin-set, concrete, mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesive to apply, seal, and finish tile.

·       Uses levels, squares, straightedges, and hand or power cutting tools to complete jobs.

·       Ensures masonry materials are properly aligned and straightened. 

·       Cuts and shapes tile as needed, making precision cuts to fit around objects and into abnormal spaces and corners.

·       Levels concrete and ensures that proper dry time is granted.

·       Finishes, dresses, and cleans joints and grout.

·       Performs other related duties as assigned.

·       General and final clean-up.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

·       Ability to skillfully apply tiles to a variety of surfaces.

·       Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the process.

·       Ability to make reasonable estimates of sizes, distances, and quantities.

·       Ability to identify the materials, resources, costs, and time needed to complete work. 

·       Ability to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle.

·       Be willing to work within a 50-mile radius.

Education and Experience:

·       High school diploma or equivalent required. 

·       Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

·       Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

·       Must be able to stoop, reach, kneel, and maneuver to install materials.
